Mercy Thompson Series, Book 2
While this is a re-read for me, I can honestly say that I did not remember the details clearly enough to know what was going on. My husband calls it a gift to be able to put things out of mind enough to be able to enjoy books and movies as if it were the first time when encountered a second time. I’m inclined to agree. My re-reading left me with the following responses:
Warren is a bad ass! I love this gay-cowboy-werewolf. I was a bit worried for his health, but never quite feared for his life. Surely Briggs wouldn’t off such an enigmatic wolf. Can’t wait to see the changes that will come now that it is evident Warren has been playing submissive.
This series has a schema for werewolves that resonates well with me. The roles of the dominant and submissive are well defined and I enjoy the discord that having to play nice with a coyote creates. I especially love Mercy’s feigned subservience.
Learning more about the vampire menagerie left me with a soft spot for Stefan, but I have mixed emotions over Stefan possible romantic interest in Mercy. Is it really necessary? Can they not just be friends? I’m also apprehensive about this Adam and Sam contest. She shared kisses with Samuel that Left her speechless and some moments with Adam that were poignant. I hope it is resolved in a dignifying way that does not leave me banging my head against the wall.
