Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
Summary : Fast Paced. Enthralling. Witty. Exciting.
Mercy Thompson Series, Book 1
I quickly remembered why I loved this series so much! I find myself laughing out loud and grinning so much that my husband can’t resist the urge to interrupt to inquire what I’m laughing at this time.
Moon Called, by Patricia Briggs, grabs your attention from page one. You are quickly brought up to speed on the supernatural world full of wolves, fae, walkers, vampires, and witches. This is done in a natural yet witty way that sets an enjoyable and exciting tone. Characters are well developed and likable.
Mercy Thompson, the protagonist, is a ball of fury. She is perceptive, intelligent, full of bravado, and oozes sarcasm. I love her for always doing what she wants. Mercy is a mechanic and a walker; she magically shifts into a coyote at will. She tries to keep to herself and out of trouble, until it comes knocking at her door in the form of a dead werewolf. Mercy reacts and finds that the local Alpha has been brutally attacked and his daughter taken. Mercy immediately takes action and is pulled deep werewolf matters that are ultimately tied into the rest of the supernatural community. Being perceived as the weakest link, weather rightfully or not, doesn’t slow Mercy down as she dives into danger.
Five stars. I absolutely love the pace, character development, and plot within this book. It is full of mystery, complicated emotions, and Alpha’s in their dominating and infuriating glory. All characters are believable and entertaining, I find myself able to understand them and want to know more about them. This is definitely a nice change from the ever so annoying love triangle plot. If you are after an entertaining paranormal read with a strong female lead that stands up for herself and those she cares about, this is your book.
