Hello, hello! In honor of the release of book 2 in the Dead Rapture series, Love at the End of Days, I thought I’d share six fun facts about the hero of this book, Sean Daniels. Readers of book one will definitely remember our hunky hero, because he played one of the leading roles (and one of Laney Landry’s leading men) throughout the book. And after his story, he had some redemption to chase.
He was the youngest colony leader and had the highest success rate before a bitter betrayal left the Denver colony overrun by Deads. And being a good leader means knowing when to make the hard decisions. A logical thinker, Sean tends to think with his head first and heart second. He’s used to getting his way, but has a good heart and would throw himself in front of a Dead to save a teammate any day.
Hero in Progress
In Love in the Time of the Dead, some of Sean’s flaws were revealed in a big way, and he’s making big changes in Love at the End of Days. He’s learned his lessons and is a man who knows he isn’t perfect. And Vanessa deserves someone she can depend on, so he’ll work that much harder to be good for someone again.
Sean’s four year old daughter Adrianna adores her daddy. He dotes on her, but encourages her to be strong and learn survival skills at the same time. He might not be good for a woman yet, but he’s got the fathering side of his life down to a fine art.
He was married before the apocalypse, and when his wife was turned into a Dead at the beginning of it, he let her live for years in hopes that a cure would be found. For as many times as he tried to muster the courage to put her down, he couldn’t do it until Laney forced his hand.
When his colony fell, he led his daughter and team to Dead Run River, where there was already a leader in place. He took a position as second-in-command to help the colony, and became the commanding officer of the guards in the colony. Every new recruit comes through the men he has trained. He doesn’t have ego about the step down, but instead tries to do everything he can to ensure what happened to his colony doesn’t happen to Dead Run River.
When Laney Landry returns to Dead Run River, Sean still harbors feelings for her, despite her having moved on with the right man. It’s Laney who convinces him to work on himself to be a better partner for a woman someday. And the only person who can drag him out of his regrets is a tough-as-nails guard in training named Vanessa.
Our boy, Sean, has a lot to make up for in this second book of the series, but he’s up for the task, and irresistible as he leads his team on a supply run that could save the human race. And with Vanessa as motivation, he just might become the man he wants to be.
